This Week in Book Covers 6th October - 10th October

Blood Canticle (Vampire Chronicles #10) by Anne Rice

I have no idea about this cover. I don’t know who the person is supposed to be. I have no idea why they’re wearing some kind of period dress or the crown or the scroll of music - it’s all just completely and utterly random without even the tiniest link to what’s in the book

Graveyard Shift (Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc #1) by Angela Roquet

I like this cover: the cartoonish style is one that’s very typical of the subgenre - whenever we see this kind of cover it’s always a light, rather fun book that will probably be hilarious. And it is - I like truth in covers. Throw in a scythe and we know where we stand, I like it

Wolf Interval (Senyaza #3) by Chrysoula Tzavelas

Oh I love the covers for this series! love them love them love them! They’re bold and shiny and overworldly and spooky and so pretty. The bold use of just a few colours is so powerful and extra shiny. Did I mention I love them? Because I love them

I also appreciate that the protagonist, a WOC, has been faithfully represented as such.

The Younger Gods by Michael R Underwood

Ooooh, more shiny. So much to like here. I like the character - he looks very much how I picture the protagonist. I like his pose as well, there’s very much a stance of resolved despair. Through in the pentagram and the dramatic lighting and it’s perfect.
