Once Upon a Time, Season 4, Episode 21: Mother

Enchanted Forest flashback - and it’s the Evil Queen in full regalia with her father, happily ripping out of hearts because she’s especially short tempered due to the anniversary (her dad does try to encourage her to reel it in. It ends badly). Daddy doesn’t approve but she’s a bit bitter at daddy as well.

The anniversary is the date of her beloved Daniel’s death - and someone else has left a flower on his grave: Cora, Regina’s mother. Well that’s a lot of blasts from the past

Cora deciding to re-enter her daughter’s life on the anniversary of murdering her lover is rather tasteless timing, it has to be said. She wants to apologise; she’s super proud of how powerful and amazing Regina has become but didn’t realise how much she’d want love (Cora herself was pretty content with a loveless marriage). She also knows about Regina having a soul mate, Robin, out there and Cora’s going to find him for her. Regina is duly sceptical.

She does this by going looking for Robin and finding the Sheriff of Nottingham. She hears Robin is married which she doesn’t consider an obstacle.

She goes to Regina to announce she’s found her man - and even picked out a dress for Regina (in white!). Regina falls for it and is all happy and shiny - except Cora has just randomly slapped a lion tattoo on the arm of the sheriff of Nottingham (since a lion tattoo is the only way Regina could identify her soul mate and Cora didn’t especially like the sound of Robin)

Nottingham is pretty terrible and talks all about being the big strong man for her tender delicate femaleness. She’s not impressed and exposes his fake tattoo and she has his tattoo magically maul him a bit - Cora apparently wants Regina to have a child. Needless to say, Nottingham and Regina don’t end up happily ever after

Cora wants Regina to build a dynasty so she can hold onto power - but Regina isn’t fooled. She can see herself having a baby and then dying of a “mysterious illness” and Cora becoming regent. To stop this, Regina has taken a potion to ensure she will never get pregnant - if “love is weakness” as Cora says then Regina doesn’t need to be able to have kids. Cora mocks that Regina would ever do this, hurt herself so much - but Regina drinks it, happy to hurt herself if it will hurt Cora more. Cora leaves her with the advice “the only one standing in the way of your happiness is you.”

To the present and New York and the train wreck of Robin with pregnant Zelena and a now very unhappy Regina. Regina is, understandably, pretty bitter while Robin is worried about his son, Roland and the fact he’s about to lose his mother again. Regina suggests a forgetting potion so he forgets the fake Marian appeared. Robin keeps on mourning for Marian being killed just as a tool in Zelena’s plans while Regina is extra sad because she realises Robin’s been put through this trainwreck because Zelena is still a very bitter sibling. Robin does realise that it’s time for Happily Ever After between them again but Regina puts on her best “you didn’t just say that” face - the baby makes things awfully complicated and this child isn’t going away, nor is the connection between Robin and Zelena.

Lily and Emma are alone with Zelena while this is going on - the Zelena who killed Baelfire/Neal but Zelena is quick to use her pregnancy to protect her from the righteous mauling she so richly deserves. Regina announces everyone, including Zelena, is going back to Storybrooke.

In Storybrooke we have a nice get together of Isaac, Gold and Killian - Killian rather clumsily taunts Gold which is never ever going to end well (though in this case he seems to have hit bullseye - Gold did expect Emma to turn dark). Isaac is concerned - they need the dark Saviour to make more ink and Gold is feeling worse and worse with his super poisoned evil heart. Gold needs a plan B - as he can barely stand with the pain in his heart (he still has magic though).

They research alternatives and Gold is in a very bad way, his heart nearly completely black.

Killian, the Charmings and Maleficent welcome Emma & co home, Emma still is giving her parents the cold shoulder and Maleficent is almost heart-breakingly desperate to see Lily. Lily gives Mary Margaret and David the appropriately poisonous look before being introduced to her mother

The gang does have the common sense to lock Zelena up (well, Regina and Emma do, personally I think Mary Margaret and David were probably fussing in a corner about how terrible it is to lock up a pregnant lady). Zelena mocks Regina because she will be in her life forever (Zelena, even if no-one wants to kill a pregnant lady, that buys you 9 months and a quick trip to the corner shop for some baby formula before they remove your head from your body, don’t get comfy). Regina nicely points this out but Zelena points out you can’t murder the mother of Robin’s child.

Regina goes to Gold’s shop looking for the author (her idea after-all, before Gold hijacked it) and finds Gold looking like he’s not so much at death’s door, but waiting in the hallway and taking his boots off. Regina doesn’t believe the Dark One can die just from a black heart - and Gold says she’s right. The Dark One can’t - but Rumplestiltskin can. Which would mean the rest of them facing the Dark One with no humanity to hold him back.He urges her to work with him and shows her the quill he has - they just have to find the ink

Regina takes the pen, she’s not exactly confident in Gold’s current ability to collaborate. She leaves with the author “goodbye Dearie.” Nice.

The author tells Regina about the whole evil ink thing and adds a premise of why Regina is such a compelling character and how she gets screwed over the most (Regina is well aware). She shows him her happy ending page and he did write it for another book - and is surprised Regina has it. He says “something” is looking out for Regina - which is awfully vague as Regina points out

Ominously they still need ink which bodes no good.

Game of Thrones, Season 5, Episode 4: Sons of the Harpy

Violantis

Jorah continues his kidnapping of Tyrion, loading him onto a boat. He manages to be loud and annoying even while gagged. Which gets him ungagged which pretty much gives advantage to Tyrion. If he can talk he can win. Jorah reveals he’s taking Tyrion to Daenerys which he finds hilarious (and a waste of a good kidnapping). Tyrion realises who Jorah is and rightly guesses everything that happened -Jorah being revealed as a spy and now trying to trade his way back into Daenerys’s good graces

Unable to duel words with Tyrion, Jorah hits him instead.

Dorne

Also on a boat, heading to Dorne, is Jaime Lannister and Bronn (sailing past Tarth where Brienne is from so Jaime can have a brief, poignant look), on a merchant vessel to hide who they are. Bronn has pretty stark impressions of what the Dornish are up to as well as how little fun it will be to kidnap a princess (and a pointed silence when Jaime refers to Mycella as his niece). Bronn pokes at various sore points - like Jaime letting Tyrion go free which Jaime is pretty sore about, he may have wanted to rescue Tyrion but now he wants to kill him for killing their dad.

Lannister family reunions must be such fun (and that’s not even an incest jab. Or not entirely anyway).

They arrive in Dorne and have one of those wonderful little character conversations that Game of Thrones can be so good at - Bronn talking about glorious death with a good story (something he considers a luxury for rich lords like the Lannisters) and his own dream of a nice quiet death after a life of prosperity (something Jaime considers boring - because prosperity is just assumed for him). A very nice comment on legacy, excitement, adventure and prosperity across the class divide. Jamie wants to die in the arms of the woman he loves - oh he’s pining (and note a lack of definition of who that woman is).

Bronn is also wonderfully snarky at the idea that Jamie can bribe people to be silent about his presence - and they end up having to fight four Dornish soldiers. Bronn takes three, leaving Jaime trying to fight with one hand against one - but it’s his metal hand that saves him. Of course now they have to dig graves - and Jaime points out he can’t really dig with one hand.

Elsewhere in Dorne, Ellaria meets with some of the Sand Snakes, Oberyn’s daughters: Nymeria, Obarra and Tyene. Ellaria wants to provoke a war between Dorne and the Lannisters to avenge Oberyn and since Doran refuses to go to war, the only way they can do that is to provoke Cersei using Mycella. Since they have the ship captain who brought Jaime (buried in sand and scorpions) they need to get to her before Jaime does. Ellaria asks if they’ll join her and, after Obarra’s nifty speech about her dad and stabbing the ship captain, it’s clear they’re all in favour of war.

Penny Dreadful, Season Two, Episode One: Fresh Hell

It's snowing and Vanessa is out for a walk.  Everything seems peaceful, that is until Madame Kali shows up and starts speaking in a dead language.  Vanessa senses something is wrong, turns in a circle and begins to get visions of fire and cutting her self. Overcome, Vanessa falls to her knees as Madame Kali watches.

Ethan awakes and finds himself still in the bar.  His hands and face are covered in blood and everyone around him is dead.  A horrified Ethan surveys the carnage.

Vanessa has returned by carriage to Sir Murray's but before she can enter, Ethan stops her to say that they need to talk.  Vanessa and Ethan get into the carriage together and Ethan says that he come to say goodbye because he is not who she thinks he is and must get away before he hurts her or someone else.  Ethan's plan is to find a war somewhere, pick a side and fight.  Vanessa brings up the war they are fighting here but Ethan believes that since Mina and the creature are both dead, they've already lost the war.  Vanessa however does not believe that they are free and clear, countering that in fact, they have only lost a battle. Ethan admits that there are times when he has blackouts and then wakes to blood.  Ethan tells Vanessa that she cannot change who she is, no matter who she saves, or who she loves.

Suddenly, the carriage is attacked.  Witches crawl through the windows attempting to get at Vanessa. Vanessa and Ethan are forced to fight them off. They both escape with a few scratches.  As Vanessa attempts to leave, they over turned carriage and a witch pokes her head through the window speaking in the dead language. The only clear word is Lucifer, which causes Vanessa to respond in kind in the dead language.  Once outside, Ethan and Vanessa survey the damage and find they horse has been eviscerated.

Accepting defeat, the witches now cloaked, move away from the carriage.

The Creature and Frankenstein stand next to the dead body of Brona Craft.  The creature wonders if Brona will remember her past and Frankenstein replies that he hopes not because Brona had a rough life.  After exposing Brona's naked body, together they lower her into a vat of water.  The Creature grabs his things to leave in search for work and warns Frankenstein that he will never be far from him.  Before the Creature can leave, Frankenstein asks if he manages to create a mate for the Creature, does that mean he will be left alone. Unfortunately for Frankenstein,  The Creature responds that they are bound together and questions what Frankenstein would be without his Creature.

Back at the house, Ethan instructs Sembene not to let Vanessa out of his sight.  Sembene questions what attacked them and Ethan simply says women.  Ethan tries to engage Vanessa to see if he can do anything for her.  Vanessa reveals that she knows what attacked them and that Ethan can leave since he was planning to anyway. Ethan points out that the creatures were trying to kill her. Vanessa however believes that if they wanted her to be dead, she would have been dead. Ethan says that he will return tomorrow when Sir. Malcolm returns. Sembene covers Vanessa with a blanket, saying that the past will never leave them and that it's who they are.

Ethan stands in the courtyard momentarily before leaving, unaware that he was being watched.

The Murray's are standing at Mina's grave.  Mr. Murray suggests that he should come home, adding that they were happy once.  Mrs. Murray is of a different opinion, saying that everything that was between them was buried.  Mrs. Murray says that they will remain married but she will live in the house and Mr. Murray is to stay in London. Malcolm appeals to his wife, saying that she doesn't know how hard he tried to save Mina but she points out that they have no more children for him to save or to kill.

Sir Malcolm heads back to London.

The Accidental Werewolf (Accidentals #1) by Dakota Cassidy

Marty Andrews is well on her way to success having worked her way up the Bobbie-Sue cosmetics chain.  Marty has even gotten to the point where she can mentor Wendy and Nina.  All Marty can think about is the moment when she will sell enough product to earn the coveted blue convertible and how well it will match her colour wheel.  It all comes to a grinding halt when her toy puddle Muffin decides to attack her werewolf  neighbour Keegan and Marty gets bitten trying to free the werewolf from Muffin, who suddenly thinks she is bigger than she is.

Before Marty knows it, she starts sprouting hair everywhere, cannot control her temper and there's a little issue with her tail appearing when she gets mad.  Things turn from bad to worse when Marty finds herself kidnapped and forced into the back of car.  Marty's a werewolf now and despite her desire to spend her life on colour wheels, things have to change and change fast.  Then there's the issue of finding Keegan tempting as hell.  Somehow, Marty has to get the hang of being a werewolf, trying to stay alive and figure out exactly what it means to be part of Keegan's pack.

At the beginning of The Accidental Werewolf, I was far from a fan of Marty.  On one hand, it was nice to move away from the tough girl protagonist that we often find in this genre but on the other, Marty was simply speaking irritating.  I simply couldn't take her seriously and building a career out of selling makeup and being obsessed with sending the appropriate message just irked me. I began to think differently about her when I learned that she ended a long term relationship because she wanted to focus on her career, though I still didn't take her career seriously.  It irked me that she was more interested in lip gloss than figuring out what being a werewolf meant for the longest time. I will however say that Marty grew on me as the book continued on.

Marty of course is another protagonist with no family and a dead mother. This fact of course makes joining Keegan's family rather appealing.  When Marty thinks about it, her focus on her career has made her extremely isolated.  The only two people she can call friend are Wendy and Nina, who work under her at Bobbie-Sue and because of that, Marty has to wonder whether the word of friend is even appropriate to use with her.  As it turns out, Wendy and Nina are both loyal to Marty and friend is absolutely the right word.  I love Nina's take no prisoners attitude and Wendy's shy peacemaker personality.

As love interests go, Keegan is the typical alpha male werewolf.  He orders Marty around, and withholds information for supposedly her own good.  We are told repeatedly how handsome he is and that his scent drives Marty wild.  We don't really get to know much about Keegan beyond his authoritative nature but I still felt myself feeling sorry for him every time Marty uttered the faithful words, "we need to talk."  The amount of patience he showed her is remarkable, even if we take into account that he is responsible for her becoming a werewolf in the first place.  Marty is quite literally a pain in the ass, and I have no idea how Keegan tolerated her, let alone fell in love with her.

The Accidental Werewolf is utterly predictable but that is to be expected from paranormal chick lit.  I knew exactly who the antagonist was and why they wanted Marty out of the way.  The big Perry Mason style confession didn't exactly come as a surprise.  That said, I completely enjoyed the ride.  If you go into The Accidental Werewolf in the right frame of mind, expecting light fluff, a little irritation and a few laughs, it's not a bad book at all.  Predictability, the motivations behind the antagonists actions made perfect sense to me.  I don't know that I would have gone as far as murder but a sense of betrayal for both the male and female antagonist made sense to me.

Orphan Black, Season Three, Episode Three: Formalized, Complex, and Costly

Felix and Sarah ponder what to do with Seth's corpse.  Felix naturally suggests going to S but Sarah is firm that she is not going to ask S for anything.  Before they can come up with a plan of action, who should knock at the door but Art, claiming to have information to share with Sarah.  Once forced to let him in, Art quickly realises that something is wrong when he sees the puddle of blood, Felix tried to hide under the carpet, and of course Felix standing suspiciously by the bathroom absolutely telegraphing guilt.  Art walks into the bathroom and finds Seth's body, so both Felix and Sarah deny that they had anything to do with his death.

Art is naturally concerned with this position finding Seth's body puts him in, saying that this isn't a simple bag of weed.  Felix, being Felix suggests that if Art looks away, Seth's body will go up in smoke.  As a distraction, Sarah introduces Art to Cosima via skype.  Cosima explains that she knew Beth and welcomes Art to clone club.  Sarah takes the laptop into the bathroom to show Scott and Cosima Seth's body. Scott suggests that the Castor's have a neurological design flaw and need the original genome to find a cure.  At this point, Scott and Cosimo decide the best move forward to examine Seth's brain.

This is when Art pipes up to say he cannot be involved in this.  Sarah is fine with this since Art just got his job back.  Art however reveals that he has a lead on Mark.

Having burnt the tattoo off his arm, Mark awakes to find Gracie missing. Mark rushes to get dressed and look for Gracie but when he opens the door, she is standing there with food.  Mark warns Gracie not to go anywhere without him because her family is looking for them. Gracie is concerned that Mark hasn't come to bed with her because he believes it to be a sin.  Gracie kisses Mark and the two start to get it on.

Allison is in full warrior mode and Donny is along for the ride.  Allison cuts off Vera, who is power walking to talk about Marcie Coates.  Vera tries to excuse herself and Donny questions why Vera doesn't have five minutes to talk about her children.  This forces Vera to get blunt about her concerns that someone with Allison's history would be handling her children.  Allison plays her hole card and informs Vera that they have something for her from Ramon.  Allison has placed Vera's drugs in a container of soap. When Allison hands over the drugs, Vera verifies the price and learns  Allison has even upped the price. I suppose new packaging requires more money.  Allison then asks for Vera's support and this time, Vera is willing to listen.

Sexy times now over, Mark talks to Gracie about the military academy saying that he was a virgin.  Mark then confesses that he is not who she thinks he is and that he never left the army.  Mark explains to Gracie that her father stole valuable scientific material and he was assigned to recover it.  Gracie is not pleased to learn about Mark's deception but Mark explains that they are free of her family but are not free of his people, adding that he needs to find something.  Gracie questions if Mark is looking for something her father sold and if he believes Willard has it. Gracie storms off when Mark questions if Gracie was really ignorant to the fact that her father had secrets.

Sarah and Art are on a stake out.  Looking at a picture of Mark and Gracie, Sarah is duly unimpressed, so Art explains that everyone scattered after Helena torched the ranch.  Sarah reveals that her plan is to find what the Castors are looking for and trade them for Helena. They find Alexis - the midwife and confront her.  Alexis says that she doesn't know where Helena is and was cast out because of her.  Art shows a picture of Mark, and  Alexis reveals that Mark left with Gracie.  Art heads back to the car and Sarah asks what was done to Helena.  Alexis says that Helena has a special purpose and that Helena is now pregnant  with Johanssen's child and that Gracie is pregnant as well, with the aid of Helena's eggs.  Art is forced to pull Sarah away when things get tense.

Gracie is in the bathroom brushing her hair and Mark calls to her.  Gracie leaves the bathroom asking Mark if he knows what the child inside her is.  When Mark says yes, Gracie replies that she cannot do this alone.  Gracie warns that Finch is a dangerous man and that if he was hiding something, he won't hand it over.  Gracie adds that they don't need any more violence.

Finch is working when Gracie shows up asking if he remembers her.  Finch takes her into his barn, saying that it was a shame what happened to Johanssen.  Gracie explains that she is there to collect what Finch had in trust for her father. Finch demands a thousand dollar fee.  Grace doesn't even blink before threatening Finch, who thinks the better of it and hands over a case.

Art and Sarah are driving and he questions why Mark would take Gracie because she amounts to baggage when one is on the run.  Sarah questions why Art is doing this and he says it's because he is riding with his partner and that Sarah is Beth's sister.  Art explains that Beth tried to tell him what was going on but he turned his back on her believing that she was on drugs.

The Messengers, Season One, Episode Three: Path to Paradise

The angels are still gathered in the bar and Joshua goes over his visions. Rose does her magical negro thing and explains that the visions are meant to lead them towards the Horseman of War.  Raul however has other things to do and though the world is in danger, his family comes first.

In a flashback, Raul and his brother go to visit his wife at a strip club of all things.  When Cesar excuses himself Raul, confronts Gabriel about not returning his calls. Gabriel declares that the affair is over and that she has to start thinking about Nadia now.  Not one to give up, Raul proclaims his love, only to have Gabriel bring up Cesar, adding that Raul cannot have them both.   Raul leaves the club with Cesar.

Cesar has arranged a drug deal and Raul stands watch.  The cops burst in and arrest Raul and his brother, as the two men protest.

In the present, Raul leaves the bar and promises Nadia that he is going to find her father. When Erin exits the bar, Raul asks her to watch Nadia for a few hours.  Nadia is insistent that she is going with her uncle and Erin points out that they don't have a place to stay and Amy needs to get to bed. Raul says that knowing Nadia is safe is important and again asks Nadia to go with Erin.  Nadia reveals that she has a place for them to hang out.

Inside the bar, Vera moves to leave and Joshua questions why she bothered to come.  Vera brings up her kidnapped son and the crater.  Joshua questions how old Michael was when he was taken and Vera explains that the boy in the video would be about the age of her son. Joshua questions how she knows the child in question is Michael and Vera is adamant that she knows because Michael is her son.  Joshua tries to persuade Vera to stay, reminding her that Rose said they were not to stray from the path.  Vera however will not be stopped and makes her way out to her truck, completely unaware that she is being watched.  Vera drives off and is followed by a man in a white van.

Nadia takes Erin and Amy to a house her father had acquired to flip.  Inside, Amy goes to sleep and Nadia lights some candles.  Nadia is quick to question if Erin is Raul's girlfriend and Erin says no and that her relationship with Raul is complicated.

Vera has a flashback to eight years ago of getting ready to go out on a date.  When she checks the pregnancy test, it's positive.  In the present, a crying Vera is brought back to reality by Alan knocking on her door.  He tracked Vera using her credit card.  Alan wants to know what Vera is doing in Houston and she is quick to say it doesn't matter.  Alan holds the piece of meteorite and says that they are going to Leo's lab because Leo is an expert.

The man meets up with El Jefe, who reports that he sent two men to kill Raul and Raul is still alive. The man suggests that El Jefe bring Cesar to their location tonight, promising that Raul will come there to find him. The man promises El Jefe that he can then enjoy watching them both die.

Joshua, Rose and Peter sit at the bar, where Rose confirms the list of languages she understands.  Joshua asks why Rose gets the cool gift and he gets visions.   Rose tells Joshua to trust in God.  Peter pulls up the statue on his phone that Joshua saw in his vision - the guidance of liberty statue in the Texas state capitol. They decide they need to figure out if the horseman is in Austin and what he has to do to break his seal.

Raul is waiting for Clarke when he returns home.  We get a flashback to Raul making a deal with the DEA to bring down El Jefe.  Raul is resistant and Clarke informs Raul that Cesar's arrest was his third strike.  Clarke promises that if Raul works with the DEA, everyone will leave with a clean record.  In the present, Raul demands to know where Cesar is.  Clarke denies Raul's assertions but Raul hears Clarke think about how he betrayed him for 300K.  Raul being the smart guy he is, tells Clarke that he read his mind.  When the grandfather clock chimes, Raul is distracted, so Clarke seizes the opportunity and takes away Raul's gun.

Erin has a book entitled, Middle Eastern Leaders.  Erin asks Nadia to watch Amy for a few hours so she can check out more books from the library.  When Nadia puts the newspaper into the fireplace, Erin is quick to snatch it and put out the fire before calling Joshua to say she might know who the man in his visions is.

Vera and Alan head to their meeting. After some small talk, Alan realises that Vera and Leo used to date.  We get a flashback to Vera and Leo sitting together in a romantic restaurant. Leo notices that Vera hasn't touched her wine and questions if she is ill.  They both speak at the same time, so Vera asks Leo to go first.  Leo tells Vera that he loved his time with her but he has met someone else and it wouldn't be fair to lead her on.  Vera tosses her glass of wine on Leo and tells him to go.  Leo leaves the restaurant and Vera cries.

Grimm, Season Four, Episode Twenty: You Don't Know Jack

"Catch me when you can..."

The cops and Monroe end up at the trailer. Nick flashes back to when he first entered the trailer.  Monroe and Hank call the results of Juliet's rage vengeance.   Nick flashes back to telling Wu that the books and weapons have been in his family for generations.  The cops try to salvage what they can from the wreckage.  Nick flashes back to Mommy Grimm advising him not to leave the people he loves and apologizing for leaving.  Monroe suggests taking what's left to the spice shop.

Juliet uses Nick's distraction to enter the home they once shared to send an email to Kelly, saying that Nick is in trouble.  When Kelly responds that she will be right there, Juliet deletes the message.

As they are leaving the trailer, Hank comments that Juliet has gone too far.  Wu questions if Nick is going after Juliet and he simply replies, "what do you think?"

Two Wesen prostitutes are working the street corner.  Mary Ann and Heidi separate when a car pulls up and Heidi decides to deal with this customer.  Mary Ann is approached by a john with an English accent looking for a Wesen whore.  Marry Ann walks off with the john into an open field.  When she tries to leave, he grabs a knife and slits her throat.

At the spice shop, Adalind and Rosalie are working on a potion.  Adalind explains that she is trying to protect herself and he baby from Juliet, adding that she didn't plan any of this.  Adalind tries to explain her actions, adding that she sided with the resistance and returned to Portland with Kelley. Rosalie finally admits that she doesn't feel good about her role in stealing Adalind's baby from her, adding however, that it was necessary to protect Diana.  All that is left for the potion is the remains of Adalind's mother.  The men return and tell Adalind and Rosalie about Juliet burning the trailer.  Adalind is worried what this means for her and Nick suggests that they need to get Adalind some place safe.   They talk about their options and Monroe makes it clear that Adalind will not be staying with him and Rosalie. Wu reluctantly volunteers.

Nick and Hank deliver Adalind to Bud's house. Bud questions if Adalind's husband or partner is in trouble as well because he has enough room to house someone else and his fridge is stocked.  Bud starts to ramble, asking if the father likes pie, causing Adalind to turn to Nick and ask him if he likes pie. Bud realises that Nick is the father of Adalind's child and Nick explains that Juliet is gone. Nick asks Bud to make sure that Adalind is safe and to contact him if Juliet reaches out to him for any reason.

Juliet reports back to Vincent, that Kelly is on her way to Portland.  Juliet starts to leave and Vincent asks her to stay because things are happening very quickly.  Juliet realises that this means Adalind won't be coming back, causing Vincent to snark about Nick being a Grimm daddy.

Nick returns home and checks the house with his gun drawn.  He finds the mouse in a strange location.

Renard is doing the dead man float in a pool when he regains consciousness.

The cops have found the body of  Mary Ann  (the dead prostitute) in the middle of the field. Wu reports that Mary Ann was found by her roommate Heidi. Hank and Nick question Heidi and she reveals thats she saw Mary Ann just after midnight.  Being so upset, Heidi woges causing Nick to reveal that he knows Marianne is Klaustreich and that he is a Grimm.  Heidi of course denies knowing what Nick is talking about . Nick asks if Mary Ann was a Wesen as well and Heidi reveals that Marianne was a Fuchsbau.  They end the conversation and decide to take a look at the body. Hank wonders since both women were Wesen, if the murderer was a Wesen was as well.

Monroe, Rosalie, Renard and Adalind stand by Catherine's grave site, watching as her body is exhumed. Adalind asks for a moment so that she can talk to her mother.  Adalind approaches the casket and says her goodbyes, informing her mother's corpse about Diana and the fact that Diana was stolen.  Adalind then talks about her current pregnancy.  Adalind tells Catherine that she loved her and needs her now in order to stop Juliet.  Adalind's plan is to get Diana back and then raise both of her children the right way.

At the station, Hank looks over Mary Anne's sheet.  Wu shows up with the medical examiners report and informs Nick and Hank that Mary Anne's uterus was removed with a very sharp blade.  Apparently, the wounds indicate that the killer is left handed.  Hank brings up Jack the ripper and Nick does a quick search.  Nick, Hank and Wu report to Renard their findings and the connection to Jack The Ripper.  Wu wonders if Jack's murders in the 1800's were Wesen related and Hank comments that Jack could have been a Grimm, except he left their heads (read: the victims) on.

Catherine is laid out on the table and Adalind holds a scalpel in her hand.  Adalind says that she cannot do it and when she asks Monroe, he says that he's a vegan.  This leaves Rosalie the work of cutting up Catherine. Adalind and Monroe cannot watch, as Rosalie sets about removing Catherine's tongue, liver, gall bladder and four ribs.  When Nick and Hank arrive, Monroe takes the opportunity to help the cops, rather than continue on with Catherine.

Heidi is back on the street corner and she is approached by the same man who killed Mary Ann.  The man asks for something special and wild, so Heidi woges, adding that wild costs extra. The man introduces himself as Jack and when he calls Heidi by name, it makes her suspicious.  Jack grabs Heidi and kills her for talking to the cops.

Monroe finds a reference from 1798 where a Grimm is writing about a Blutbad feeding on refugees. Apparently, the Grimm came across the bodies of a few young Blutbad which made him wonder if another Grimm was at work.  The Grimm found a soldier killing prostitutes and removing organs.  When the soldier was cornered he didn't Woge but something was off with his eyes.  The Grimm killed him with his sword.

Olympus, Season 1, Episode 5: Blood Brothers

The Hero manages to make it to Athens by clumsily shooting a guard in the leg. This rather inept introduction leads to him killing several more guards.

Medea visits Lykos to demand to know when the Hero will be delivered – and also to warn Lykos that Kimon is blatantly Pallas’s agent. Lykos believes he’s converted Kimon – and that he should be ruling Athens. In his favour, he’s arguing this because his dad is an absolutely appalling king and the people are beginning to realise this. Of course he’s also sure that he’s all suited to be a leader because the non-existent Lexicon is shining through – which his mother knows is bullshit. She tells him to slow down, grow up and wait for his moment in the sun. And to bring the Hero

Except his agent returns the money because he failed to deliver Hero to him.

In Minos’s camp, Hero left the Oracle tied to Minos’s bed – ye gods man, really? Ariadne is duly snarky while Minos is, surprisingly sensibly, more concerned by the fact a suspected Athenian spy managed to sneak into his tent in the middle of the night and spend long enough there to tie someone up. He leaves Ariadne and the tied Oracle alone – Ariadne is both impressed and annoyed by how effectively the Oracle has manipulated her father. She decides to question the Oracle with an oily leg massage – which I think is attempted seduction though the Oracle seems more uncomfortable than anything. Then she starts writing in pleasure and gasping over… having her calves rubbed.

This turns into a random ominous vision with eagles holding snakes, King of Athens and the world ending.

Minos checks in on Daedelus who is still working on war machines, sort of anyway. We see Minos has some of the same hangs up as Aegeus, it’s not enough to win, they have to win gloriously.

In Athena, Medea and Pallas continue to plot ad King Aegeus keeps having sex with the Priestess while she prays. Pallas and Xerxes think Medea has arranged this so Medea and Lykos can negotiate surrender with Minos. Pallas decides the key to this is to woo Lykos.

Absolutely none of that made sense. Not one iota. Not how having the king have sex with a priestess will allow the surrender to go ahead. Not the idea that Lykos and Medea are planning a surrender. Nor the idea that wooing Lykos will prevent surrender. The whole thing was such random nonsense he may as well have been speaking another language.

So they drag him into a meeting with Lykos also bemused as to what they’re talking about. They try to convinced him how best to present his surrender plea (ignoring that Lykos isn’t actually planning surrender) since they do seem to agree it’s the only way any of them will survive their inevitable defeat. They hope to trade the Lexicon for being able to live and then having Lykos be king afterwards.

Convinced, Lykos sends a carrier pigeon which Xerxes and Pallas hope will help build a case of treason against Lykos. Which they want because… because… Oh I have no clue but somehow it will put Pallas on the throne. They also plot while walking through public corridors which is laughably ridiculous.

Meanwhile Hero dumps his stolen Minoan armour and steals a tunic – only to be caught by a woman who fears he is a Minoan spy because of the armour (because spies infiltrate cities wearing uniforms). Whether she’d believe his ridiculous story I delayed because everyone hides when Athenian soldiers appear – they may be defending the city but that doesn’t stop them abusing the citizens. Naturally Hero intervenes and, as is somewhat a pattern, he also loses.
