Lucifer, Season 3, Episode 20: The Angel of San Barnadino

Pierce and Chloe are getting all hot and heavy in the evidence room and their relationship is getting closer. But Chloe is still holding back, not introducing him to Trixie, not saying the love word and still being very very awkward whenever the subject of her relationship with him comes up.

We have a murder - which isn’t all that relevant to the main plot so I’m going to kind of skip past it because it’s kind of convoluted: rich black sheep former drug addict is dead. But one witness thinks she was saved by an angel. Lucifer mocks the whole idea and even Amenadiel agrees that it’s a weird, confused or bored angel that is remotely interested in the fate of single human. A saved human and a stolen angel figurine doesn’t really prove anything to them

Until the figurine appears in Lucifer’s flat. Confused and still not believing one of his brothers is about, he decides to consult Linda who suggests that  Lucifer is actually sleep angelling since he has unresolved issues with Chloe and Pierce being together

Of course Lucifer doesn’t believe this and is determined to prove it - so he becomes obsessed with solving the case, with violence and rule breaking if necessary, so he can then ask the murderer if an angel did appear and if so whether it was him or not.

Chloe notices his sudden obsession and kicks him out to go home and sleep and Lucifer chains himself up so there’s no chance of him angeling in his sleep. But he wakes unchained and with Amenadiel watching him (yes, I love the line that Amenadiel is as welcome as Coldplay tickets). Amenadiel has a newspaper showing that the angel has been active while Lucifer was asleep

Both of them promptly freak out and remind us that Angels are incredibly self-centred. Lucifer assumes his dad is messing with him, again. Amenadiel assumes god is punishing them for revealing the divine to Charlotte (he’s having second thoughts). Seriously both of them are self-involved but Lucifer is in his underwear so I’m on his side.

Lucifer is still looking for proof so we get more of the crime investigation but the main element here is Lucifer has decided to stop sleeping with drugs and partying and netflix binging and having sex (with women of course, only ever with women.) and more not wearing many clothes (and we can keep this up because that’s some quality eye candy).

This leads to lots and lots and lots of randomness from Lucifer and Chloe tries to make sense of his rambling as he flails around the case and basically tells Chloe everything (which she doesn’t believe). She takes issue with his suspicion of Pierce because no matter what Lucifer says, Pierce makes her happy. She comes close to saying that she loves him.

Lucifer charges off on a rampage, solving the crime and realising there was no angel and the killer took the missing figurine and destroyed it because he accidentally touched it. And he has a revelation - someone stoking his weakness to distract him (in the same way the killer tried to get the heroin addict back on drugs to keep him away from his family). Lucifer realises this whole fake angel has been designed to distract him

He hurries home to find the figurine that was planted on him so he can have Ella examine it to prove someone is messing with him: and Maze arrives. To be all nice and kind - and when he sees through that - to torment him and confess: yes she’s helping Pierce by distracting Lucifer by preying on his eternal daddy issues

Lucifer, Season 3, Episode 18: The Last Heartbreak

This episode has a lot of flashbacks of Pierce back in 1958 where he was also a detective and…

Hey this is a really bad way to be low key. I mean I thought he tried to hide who he was, even this episode he makes the point that he moved around a lot. Coming back to the same city and the same profession (hey which may have elimination prints on file even) may not be the best bet

Back then he was investigating a serial killer - the broken hearts killer - who killed couples (where one party was cheating) in a particularly gruesome and heart squishing manner. He decides to do all his work in a bar because who cares about crime scene photos being seen by all and sundry with a bevy of women all coming on to him and him ignoring all of them

Except the bar tender who has him pegged exactly - how he wants company (so he works in a bar) but doesn’t think he deserves it so he sits alone and drives people off and how he never let’s people in.

In the present we have a copycat killer - the broken hearts killer was found (possibly by Pierce - but the credit taken by Ray his partner) and died recently in prison - only now we have a string of similar murders

We also have Pierce and Chloe. They had an excellent time together at the concert and Ella makes a big point of the chemistry they have together in case we missed it.and so Lucifer can be super jealous of Pierce having a relationship with Chloe

Yes, this is Lucifer’s issue of the week with jhim continually being jealous and pouty about Pierce and Chloe. Especially when Pierce joins the investigation because he has so much insider knowledge about the crime which makes him a genuine asset.

Best thing? Chloe telling Lucifer they have no time for his issues when there’s a damn serial killer on the loose. Amen Chloe, no more Lucifer shenanigans when people are dying.

They follow some red herrings - the wife who was being cheated on (now in therapy and dealing with her… excessive reactions), a guy who fanpoodled the original murders and did tours (had insider knowledge but from a cop he was paying to get info for his tours). Pierce manages to find his old bar and the granddaughter of the old bar tender: and she has all the old notes of the previous case as well. Turns out the original murderer used a radio show to find cheating spouses.

Lucifer, Season 3, Episode 11: City of Angels?

It’s the episode I never realised I needed so badly to see - Lucifer, first cast out of Heaven in 2011 with awesome opening text being all dramatic

And then Lucifer wearing a hopelessly outdated suit and still making it work because he’s Lucifer and Tom Ellis has just mastered this role beyond compare. He’s also flaring his wings around with casual comfort. This isn’t apparently his first holiday and he quickly embarks on some fun with booze, women and whipped cream

Which is when Amenadiel drops in to bring him back home and snark:

Amenadiel: Those poor humans know not what they do
Lucifer: They all know they’re doing me.

Amenadiel’s condescension is heavy back here and it’s clear he knows very little about humans. He demands Lucifer go back to hell and he menaces him as the strongest angel - though Lucifer points out Amenadiel has never actually fought Lucifer. Not that he will because the divine interacting on Earth is against the rules.

He’s also very worried what repeated exposure to the divine will do to humanity. To which Lucifer has a dirty but kind of awesome quip at the amount of divine that has been spilled on the sofa

But Lucifer backs down when Amenadiel threatens to get dad involved -because back in 2011, Lucifer still cared what daddy thought. He only begs for time to say goobye

And while he does that Amenadiel gets shot and mugged (I’m pretty sure bullets didn’t put angels on the floor before so retcon I guess), his holy necklace is stolen. And everyone insults his robes - including Lucifer (I have to say in this episode Lucifer and Amenadiel have an excellent “annoying little brother” vibe)

He hurries back to Lucifer to steal clothes and go to the police to report the theft. These clothes involve a Tshirt with “if you’re rich I’m single” written on it and… a hat and sunglasses combo that will traumatise me forever.

He goes to the police - to Chloe when she was still a uniformed cop - and knows so little about humanity that he utterly fails to actually report a crime.

Instead he has to appeal to Lucifer for help - and Lucifer agrees because he wants to spend more time with LA and he also manages to extract a favour from Amenadiel.

His actions have also set Chloe off, eager to prove herself as a detective (hubby Dan is already a detective) and she begins her own investigations connecting Amendaiel’s mugging with the shooting of a professional fighter called Aiden in the same area. She notes that both the victims were very big men and not your most common mugging victim.

Lucifer, Season 3, Episode 8: Chloe Does Lucifer

So, Lucifer, Chloe and Trixie are playing monopoly and it’s super super adorable.

But Lucifer has a huge moment of doubt when Amenadiel much approves of his “quiet night in” and even says “boring suits you”

Boring.

Lucifer is MORTALLY OFFENDED by this.

And like every other time he has an issue he decides to externalise this on to the case. So he declares the murder victim, a computer programmer, is “boring” and her room-mate who loves selfies is “interesting”

This whole concept this episode leaves me a little blah. I mean Lucifer is supposed to be daring, self-absorbed, sexy, charming and adventurous, his parties wild and elite. And yes, he’s shallow - but he’s been shallow for a long long time. Long enough to spot fakes and definitely long enough not to confuse “attractive” with “interesting and worldly”. Now we can argue that Lucifer doesn’t care too much about the latter with good evidence given his previous actions (but, at the same time, he apparently appreciates the finer things in live and has an extremely successful exclusive club… which would argue at least some ability to tell the movers and shakers from poseurs) but the idea that this centuries old being would both CARE about fakery and interesting, worldly people AND be unable to spot it? Just seems… unlikely

This also brings us the odd episode of Esther and others not finding Lucifer that interesting which… if they developed this into a story thing of Lucifer maybe losing his supernatural charm as well as his devil face would be interested. But they don’t… which is just inconsistent world building. Remember season 1 when Linda threw out all professional ethics to sleep with him? Remember the number of people compelled by his presence? Remember how Chloe pinged his radar as the only one not affected by his mojo? Yeah, I’m going to need an explanation for these people being indifferent to his devilish charm.

So, the murder victim was in contact with people who run a dating app for the rich and pretentious which has super strict entry requirements - and on arrival the owner, Mac is impressed by Chloe, but, again, super off Lucifer. He’;s also unco-operative because this is a crime show and everyone is always unco-operative at all times but it never matters because the police can commit infinite crime for their investigation and it’s never ever a problem.

So Chloe decides to interview the one person kim the dead woman probably spoke to by going to a party and hoping he hits on her while she’s channeling her inner Lucifer. Something she’s very very bad at, her small talk includes talking bulk buying at the super market. Also both she and Lucifer consider presecco to be a posh drinking choice. Every European bone in my body cries out for me to be judgmental and snarky about this. And yes, she does laugh like a demented witch on crack

Of course she does find the man because the plot says so and questioning him reveals he doesn’t rate Esther because he always has to play act around her while Kim was someone he felt comfortable around and could be himself. Because we’re being subtle with the messages here.

Jumping on a possible revenge theory they go to see Esther, wearing a bikini so Chloe can be all disapproving and judgey, of course, and she cracks under Lucifer’s mojo to reveal her whole well-travelled lifestyle is just completely fake. How shocking. Lucifer is shocked. I am not shocked. But it also reveals a money angel

In the predictable denouement it turns out that Kim was the one behind the highly success elite dating app but didn’t have the confidence to face it - and hired someone to promote the image. Hence Mac; and then she wanted her money back. Chloe and Lucifer both confront him and, realising he’s a fraud, Lucifer uses his own predictable self-obsession (and, again, it doesn’t make sense for Lucifer to find such a fraudster predictable AND not to recognise them)

We see Lucifer return to his sexy lifestyle, but part of him maybe appreciating a quiet night with Trixie and Chloe a little more.

Now for side plots that are much more interesting

Linda. Linda is planning her ex-husband’s funeral but also clearly troubled. In steps Amenadiel for advice and support and Linda’s over-the-top funeral planning cracks to reveal the truth (because Linda is many things - including self-aware).

Lucifer, Season 3, Episode 2: The One With the Baby Carrot

Lucifer’s sexy time is interrupted by Premature Unfurling, his wings come out. And no he doesn’t want to cosplay with a woman wearing a devil costume. He is more determined to keep cutting his wings off

Linda, his therapist, is very very uncomfortable about this extreme, repeated self-mutilation. But Lucifer is insistent; he will not tolerate anyone, especially not dad, making him into something he isn’t. Of note here though is not just Lucifer showing concern for Linda’s own trauma at the hands of Charlotte - but Linda definitely avoids and deflects from that question.

Lucifer has a definite grudge against the Sinnerman - because he’s offering favours for future consideration just like Lucifer (Linda: You didn’t invent that… oh, the devil. Sorry, carry on). Which is the really forced and honestly clumsy theme of this episode - basically Lucifer is pouting because he thinks the Sinnerman is imitating him. It’s really forced and ridiculous  and doesn’t make a lot of sense and is just used to force Lucifer to act in extra silly manners.

At the police station Chloe pretty much considers the sinnerman to be a fictional boogeyman and doesn’t actually exist. And she’d rather Lucifer not talk about it in front of unpleasant Lieutenant Pierce and make them look bad. Also the case last week has been solved having found someone with a perfectly mundane motive for doing it.

We have a new case this week - a comedian is being murdered and the suspicion is that another, much more successful, wealthy comedian (much beloved by Ella) may have killed them to cover up stealing the failed comedian’s shtick. This is clumsily threaded into Lucifer’s own issues of being imitated and lead to lots of clumsy investigation, Lucifer being even more obtuse and loose-cannony than usual and finally settling on a red herring of someone hating both comedians for making micro-penis jokes (Chloe expects Lucifer to be every bit as childish about this as he is) before that is finally cast aside for Sheila: Rich Magician’s opening act. She doesn’t care that he’s stealing - even her own material - because she’s getting rich off it. When Lucifer tries to force his “this is your very identity being taken” she dismisses him - all work is stolen or derivative and not imaginative: what matters is how you use it not where it came from. Then Lucifer punches her to stop her shooting anyone.

Meanwhile Linda checks in with Amenadiel and, again, deflects any question about her wellbeing. Linda is definitely hurting here. She does thank Amenadiel for saving her along with Maze (and this is the second time we’ve had a lampshade moment that Maze is missing - why is she still missing? It’s not a plot reason, Lucifer talks to her - she’s just been plot boxed.

Amenadiel recruits her to help do something he really doesn’t want to do with all his talk of being tested: dispose of Lucifer’s wings so evidence of the divine isn’t just lying around. Linda is somewhat shaken by the whole thing - both by how bloody and real the severed wings are (which in turn horrifies her because it brings home just what a terrible, brutal act of self-mutilation Lucifer is performing again and again and again) and almost shock that Amenadiel is burning the wings with so little ceremony, treating them like rubbish

Johannes Cabal the Necromancer (Johannes Cabal #1) by Jonathan L. Howard

Image result for Johannes Cabal the Necromancer (Johannes Cabal #1) by Jonathan L. Howard

Having sold his soul to the devil in order to learn the secrets of necromany, Johannes isn't pleased to discover that the bargain has not achieved the results he had hoped for and that in fact, he actually needs his soul back.  This realisation results in a trip to hell to bargain with the devil to regain his soul.  Johannes strikes a deal to get 100 people to sign over their souls to the devil in exchange for his own soul back.  With the help of his vampire older brother Horst and a demonic train, it's a race against time to see who will become the victor.

I must admit to being a little bit conflicted about this book. There were times when the dark humour had me outright laughing and times when the story seemed to drag on because of repetitiveness.  There's only so many times one can read descriptions of gouls and be entertained by them.  Howard is at times needlessly verbose though generally speaking the language helps to cement Cabal's character.

As with any Faustian deal, there is an element of morality to this story.  Johannes is so intent in collecting the 100 souls that he doesn't think about the destruction that his travelling carnival is leaving in its wake. What is the point of regaining one's soul only to lose it in the act of regaining it?  Horst, the vampire is the moral authority in this case. It's Horst who blocks a child from accidentally selling his soul and Horst who points out that there's a difference between getting people to sign who were already destined to go to hell and actively corrupting those who would not have ended up in hell.  Horst can see unlike Johannes that this is so much more than a numbers game.

It's Horst who explains to Johannes that there's a difference between tricking a man who abuses women and discards them into selling his soul and tricking a stressed out and overwhelmed single mother into killing her child. No matter how hard Horst tries, Johannes simply cannot see.  Even when elements of Johannes soften, they don't last long for the simple reason that his drive to regain his soul is so strong.

It's not until the very end that we clearly understand what is driving Johannes, though there are hints throughout as he reveals his anger at death itself, calling it a thief. Johannes is a very angry, jealous man.  Though Horst helps Johannes throughout with his mission to capture 100 souls, Johannes cannot let go of his jealousy of his brother.  It seems growing up, Horst was favoured by his parents and community, leaving Johannes always striving for attention and love.  The sibling rivalry clearly had an affect on Johannes and warped his personality to a strong degree.  Even though Johannes was responsible for Horst becoming a vampire, he still felt entitled to his brother's help.

Lucifer, Season Two, Episode Sixteen: God Johnson

Image result for lucifer season 2

From the moment Charlotte was introduced, I wondered if Lucifer would ever get around to introducing God? For many, Lucifer is already a problem because they find it problematic to paint the devil in a positive light, while encouraging viewers to identify with them.  This clearly Christian fear has not stopped people from tuning to Lucifer but i'm quite certain that it's set limits as to how far writers are willing to go.  Lucifer tends to portray Charlotte, Amenadiel, God and Lucifer as one big dysfunctional family, even as it gives Lucifer's interpretation of the fall. It certainly isn't a show that takes it self seriously and is far removed from the comic book which is supposedly the source material. Lucifer instead seems to take the Christian faith and play with it in a tongue and cheek matter to make it relatable.

The reoccurring question this episode is, "What if God were one of us?" And yes, this comes complete with Ella singing and playing Joan Osborne's nineties hit.

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make His way home?

If God had a face, what would it look like?
And would you want to see?
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in Jesus and the saints and all the prophets?

A murder occurs at a mental institution and one of the suspects just happens to be a former millionaire named God Johnson.  God has been insitutionalised after giving away his money. Lucifer at first believes that God is simply another mentally ill patient until he is called Samael.  Given that Lucifer didn't introduce himself by name, the fact that God instantly recognises him, is all he needs to decide that dear old dad has come to earth.

God's appearance on earth means a change in plans.  Lucifer no longer has to cut open the gates of heaven to have access to his father and can now plot a way to make him miserable here on earth. Lucifer decides to check himself into the hospital in order to have more access to dear old dad.  Chloe heads to visit him and his fixation on God Johnson clearly worries her but she's got a case to investigate and she's got a Maze shaped problem of her own.

Since Maze and Chloe got fake married last week, it seems that Maze is determined to increase their bond which involves spending every waking minute with each other.  To that end, Maze even offers Chloe burnt toast for breakfast. Chloe is desperate to get some space but Maze it seems just won't take the hint.

With the possibility of not being able to stay on earth and no one to talk to, Charlotte is really beginning to feel isolated. Charlotte reaches out to Dan, who's not at all interested in rekindling anything between them, making it clear that he's got too much pride for that. Charlotte being Charlotte, sees this as Dan playing hard to get.

Lucifer , Season Two, Episode Fourteen: Candy Morningstar

Image result for lucifer season 2

After a long hiatus, Lucifer is finally back. When we last left Lucifer, Chloe had barely survived being poisoned and Lucifer had discovered that his father specifically put Chloe in his path.  Lucifer is someone who absolutely hates being lied to and he hates being manipulated and so he simply took for two weeks, not telling anyone where he had gone.

An upset Chloe spent most of the time calling and leaving messages but getting no response. After not hearing from Lucifer, Chloe decides that it's time to get back to her life and so begins to investigate a new case.  Chloe examines the dead body, and when she looks she spots Amenadiel briefly. In Lucifer's absence he has charged Amenadiel with looking out for Chloe.

Chloe isn't the only one upset at Lucifer's absence. Charlotte really feels abandoned by Lucifer given that she went to hell - the place that she's most afraid of to help him.  This however hasn't stopped Charlotte from being the party girl that she is and freaking out a random mortal that she decides to make out with.

Lucifer finally makes an appearance at the precinct to resume his job as a civilian consultant and things do not go well.  At first Chloe is relieved to see him because she was naturally worried that something had happened. Lucifer easily brushes aside her concerns because he has some news he wants to share.  This is when Candy Morningstar makes her first appearance.  It seems that Lucifer took his break in Las Vegas where he married an exotic dancer.  This clearly wounds Chloe deeply because before he left, the two of them were getting closer and clearly becoming so much more than friends.  Unlike almost everyone else that Lucifer interacts with, Chloe doesn't know the truth about Lucifer. All that she knows is that he constantly pushes her away, and has a tendency to be erratic when he's upset about something. This kind of inconsistent behaviour is pretty much what Chloe has been subject to since meeting Lucifer.

Lucifer, Season Two,Episode Thirteen: A Good Day to Die

A Good Day to Die is absolutely Lucifer at its best.  Far too often, Lucifer gets bogged down with the case of the week but A Good day to Die, marks the finale of a three episode arc that showcases what is best about this show - the emotional drama.

When we last saw Lucifer, he had just arrived at Chloe's after  learning from Charlotte that Chloe's birth was ordered by God.  Before Lucifer can even really come to terms with Chloe's divine conception, Lucifer learns that Chloe has been infected by the super poison.  Given that there's no known cure this, its absolutely a problem.  Lucifer's first course of action is to rush Chloe to the hospital but she stops him because everyone who went to the hospital died and therefore feels that the best course of action is to so some investigating to find out if a cure survived the death of Professor Carlisle.

Lucifer and Chloe arrive at the police station and are greeted by Ella who reports that Carlisle destroyed the last of the antidote before he died. Ella then goes on to list exactly how horrible death by this super poison will be because she doesn't know that Chloe has been infected.  They agree to go over the remnants of the professor's lab and Lucifer excuses himself to go talk to Amenadiel, who has shown up at the precinct.

Lucifer quickly confronts his brother about Chloe's divine birth.  Amenadiel is quick to say that they are both puppets who have been manipulated. It seems that Amenadiel is resentful about his role in Chloe's conception but argues that they are all on the same side.  Lucifer is not remotely sympathetic and goes on to ask if their father is also behind Chloe's poisoning. Amenadiel is shocked  and Lucifer realises that this means Amenadiel cannot help Chloe.  They are interrupted by Chloe, who has tracked down a clue.  Burt has been released from prison on bail and so they decide to head to his place.

Burt has decided to celebrate his release by throwing a massive party.  Chloe makes nice with Burt, and he leads her towards his bedroom.  At the bedroom door, Burt suggests that they hook up another night because Chloe's nose has started to bleed. Chloe responds by turning on the sexy, opening the bedroom door and tossing Burt in.  Unfortunately for Burt, Lucifer is waiting for him.  You know damn well that Lucifer went full on devil and scared the living shit out of Burt. Burt however does provide Lucifer with a lead to the professors middle man Dave.  Before Lucifer and Chloe can check it out, Chloe collapses unconscious on the ground.

When Chloe wakes, she's not pleased to find herself in a hospital bed surrounded by Dan and Lucifer. Dan volunteers to help Lucifer with the rest of the investigation in Chloe's staid.  When they head to Dave's, Dan informs Lucifer that Dave sells his art as a cover for his illegal products because you can charge anything you want for art.  Dave is quick to hit a sour note with Dan, when he suggests that Dan should allow Chloe to die because Chloe is his ex.  Dan responds by punching Dave which leads to both he and Lucifer being handcuffed in a back room.  Lucifer watches as Dan gets beat up. It's only when Dan admits that he screwed up by getting them handcuffed that Lucifer frees himself and takes out Dave's thugs. Lucifer does his mind mojo thing on Dave, and learns that all that Dave wants is for people to buy his crappy paintings and appreciate them.  Dave hands over the list of ingredients needed to make the antidote but he doesn't have access to the formula.  This is when they learn that the only person who knows the formula is the professor, who as we know is dead.

Lucifer is back at the hospital and who should arrive but Charlotte. In her desire to comfort Lucifer, Charlotte points out that the professor is in hell.  This turns into a light bulb moment and Lucifer makes the decision to head to hell.

It's time for a supernatural planning session.  Charlotte, Amenadiel, Maze and Linda get together to plan what to do.  Charlotte points out that Lucifer was the lord of hell but isn't anymore and therefore he cannot be certain that his plan will work.  When Linda stands up to speak, Amenadiel is not pleased that Linda knows all about celestial beings. It turns out that Amenadiel is the only one who didn't know this. Linda is worried about Lucifer dying but he believes that there's no other way. Charlotte decides that she's not going to be a part of Lucifer going back to hell and marches out but Amenadiel decides to stay and help.

The crew head back to the hospital where Lucifer tells Dan that he's about to get the formula and therefore Dan has to get the ingredients.  Lucifer stops at the door to Chloe's room.  Linda and Maze make their way to the room directly below Chloe's while upstairs Lucifer charges Amenadiel to stand watch over Chloe no matter what happens.

Ella and Dan work together and they have all the ingredients except for one.  Ella says that all of her legal contacts are out of the ingredients but that's not the case with her illegal ones.  Ella suggests they check a chop shop she knows but since they don't have time for a warrant, this means they will have to break in.

Lucifer's in bed and the big plan is to shock him with a defibrillator to stop his heart. Linda is really conflicted about killing Lucifer but he reminds her that this is all about Chloe.  Maze picks up the defibrillator but cannot bring herself to shock Lucifer. In frustration, Lucifer grabs the defibrillator and shocks himself.

Lucifer, Season Two, Episode Twelve: Love Handles

The episode opens with Chloe and Lucifer getting intimate.  Deckerstar fans must have been losing their mind having waited a season and a half for this to happen.  Lucifer doesn't disappoint as Chloe straddles our favourite devil, ripping open his shirt in the process. For the record, I greatly approve of shirtless Tom Ellis. Chloe runs her hands down Lucifer's back, caressing the scars his wings left behind. Lucifer pauses the action for a moment to make certain that this is what Chloe wants to do.  I think that this is a really important moment because he sought explicit consent.  Given how sexually predatory Lucifer was in season one, this is a good step forward. Chloe is all in which causes Lucifer's eyes to flash and his horns to become visible. Chloe grabs Lucifer's horns and then promptly wakes up to find Maze eating popcorn at her bedside enjoying the show. At times like this I really love Maze.

For much of this episode we actually get a role reversal between Chloe and Lucifer.  Lucifer actually goes to see Linda to report that he's decided to take things slow whereas Chloe, who hasn't had sex in forever can't stop dropping hints.

Lucifer is absolutely surprised by the Chloe's suggestiveness but he doesn't actually take the bait.  It seems that Lucifer's main concern is that what he is experiencing isn't real.  Lucifer's mind really gets going when they catch a case where the mystery man from last week, uses people to test his hypothesis.  A famous actor is told that unless he cuts his face, a college student will die.  At first, the actor believes it's a joke but he arrives on campus to find a student dead.  Lucifer is enraged by the cold manipulation of the killer and this leads him to question if Chloe is being manipulated into suddenly being receptive to a sexual and romantic relationship with him.

The second person to be blackmailed is a world renowned thoracic surgeon. The good doctor is told that if she doesn't cut off her hand that an innocent college student will die.  The doctor struggles with this because she has spent her entire life dedicated to saving life.  In the end, the doctor puts her hand in a garbage disposal despite detective douche trying to talk her down.  The end result is that the blackmailer sends the antidote to the poison that he used on a college kid.

After some great work by Ella, Lucifer, Chloe and Detective Douche learn that a disgraced academic named Dr. Carlisle is behind the blackmail.  Dr. Carlisle was in a car accident and the driver of the car was a college student. Rather than helping the college student, the Dr. Carlisle escaped the car and then went back for his dissertation, leaving the innocent college student to die.  This resulted in the Dr. Carlisle losing the opportunity to obtain tenure and then having to get a divorce because his wife left him. Dr. Carlisle is putting people in these lethal situations to prove that his reaction was normal and human.  I agree that his actions were human but they were cowardly.

While Lucifer and Chloe are busy working on the case, Charlotte has a problem of her own to solve. After encouraging Lucifer to let down his guard and go for it with Chloe, Charlotte has deemed that now is the time to drop the hammer and let Lucifer know about Chloe's divine creation.  Charlotte first goes to Linda to enlist the good doctor's help.  Linda is so onto Charlotte and the fact that she is working an agenda and so absolutely refuses to get involved.  I gotta say, Linda's facial expressions during this scene absolutely cracked me.  Rachael Harris totally has  the whole sexy librarian look absolutely nailed down. Charlotte's next target is Maze, who as we know has mixed feelings about Chloe.

Salem, Season 3, Episode 9: Saturday Mourning

It’s time for everything to go horribly wrong, for me to be immensely annoyed by several characters and for me to generally yell 2nooooo, nooooooo, nooooooooooooooooooo!” over and over again.

Mary Sibley isn’t dead despite the whole blood Marburg curse thing and she is plagued by her baby devil’s voice. Upon hearing his voice tempting her, she crawls to the doorway to hell, draws a knife and is ready to stab ANYONE who comes near her or the door. They will open it over her dead body. Because she is Mary and she is not standing down.

Mary I made of iron

Unfortunately everyone else is made of stupid. Great big chunks of stupid welded together. They’re also made of EXCELLENT moral lessons being made by the WORST PEOPLE in the world

So, Cotton wakes up in the brothel, wanders around a bit, still drunk, pops in on John (more on him later) and runs into Glorianna. Who doesn’t remember him. Or, well, anyone but does remember being helped by the oh-so-nice Anne.

Cotton loses his temper and goes to confront Anne, being very physical and intimidating. She tries to lie her way about it over and over again. And it doesn’t work, except to get Cotton to break all morality by declaring lying worse than murder. He rambles on about how he thought she was a pure, wonderful innocent angel but now she’s just an evil ugly hag

She snaps. She has an epic, awesome rant about his hypocrisy. How he regularly got drunk, visited prostitutes then lived the lie of climbing up on the pulpit to praise god and be righteous. She calls out the whole horrendous Maddonna/Whore Innocent/witch, beauty/hag dichotomy he has going and generally just awesomely calls out the whole double standard and misogyny of the time and the people here.

And I would be cheering but this whole speech is being made by a woman literally trying to justify kidnapping, womb raiding and lobotomising another woman. Nothing she said is wrong by my gods, in the context can we not?! She is waving the flag of misogyny as some kind of excuse for why she viciously abused another, even more vulnerable and powerless woman?! Lucifer, Season Two, Episode Eleven: Stewardess Interruptus

After a brief hiatus, Lucifer is back and ready for trouble.  When we last left Lucifer, he was sharing a moment with Chloe in the wake of her testimony in criminal court.  I know that fans of Deckerstar went weak at the knees when it looked like these two might finally kiss after a season and a half of will they or won't they, Especially given that the writers chose just that moment to go on Xmas hiatus
Lucifer fandom when deckerstar becomes canon
Yeah, they're cruel like that.  At any rate, before they could kiss as the title of the episode explains, Lucifer was blocked by Stewardess Interruptus, i.e. one of his lovers showed up for a booty call. Chloe see this as a sign that she should get moving, leaving Lucifer to explain to his lover that there will be no knocking boots tonight.

The episode begins in earnest when the flight attendant who showed up for the booty call is found dead in an alley.  Unfortunately for Lucifer, that makes him the last person who saw her alive. I know I have been critical of the case of the week loop that writers use to move Lucifer's plotline along but this time, it seemed to work.  It revealed to us for instance that Lucifer is indeed bisexual and made it cannon.  Thus far, all we have been able to do is hypothesis because though we have seen him in bed with a man and a woman at the same time, Lucifer was always placed physically next to the woman and certainly was not interacting with the man.  With Lucifer admitting that he sleeps with men, much to Chloe's surprise, his sexuality has clearly been defined.  Unfortunately, it came with his male lover being found murdered and as we know, his heart does not belong to another man but in fact to Chloe Decker. I'm trying not to complain because we have very few LGBT protagonists on television, I simply fear that with the writers determination to ship Deckerstar, (yeah, apparently that's the ship name) it means that we are not going to see a very serious treatment of Lucifer's bisexuality.

As Lucifer's lovers line up to talk about having sex with him and how great it was, Lucifer visibly preens.  His perspective changes however when he realises that none of his lovers actually care for him and instead wrote him off as a one night stand.  This troubles the normally lighthearted Lucifer. I'm sure the Deckerstar people were in a flurry as Chloe questioned Lucifer's lovers and seemed to express relief that despite the fact that he gave them all amazing orgasms, Lucifer never went out of his way to get to know any of them, or do anything special for them.

Along with the will they or won't they, we had Maze trying to figure out just where she fits in now. With the death of the murderer of Chloe's farther and Detective Douche's involvement, Maze naturally assumed that this is something they should celebrate, she is after all a demon.  Detective Douche naturally is far more worried about getting caught, given his already extremely tarnished reputation.  Poor Maze just wants some acknowledgement for the good she believes that she does and so seeks out Linda for reassurance, completely ignoring that her neediness is blocking Linda from having lunch.  Linda does her best to make it clear to Maze that she doesn't need the thanks of others to accept herself or her actions in a positive light.

Lucifer, Season Two, Episode Eight: Trip to Stabby Town

Image result for lucifer television show

For the last couple of weeks I've been complaining about the weekly police procedural shtick that Lucifer for some unknown reason seems wedded to.  This week, although the case was deeply tied to Lucifer, it was far more interesting because it helped to actually move the main meta along, making it fun and interesting to watch.  Thank goodness that Lucifer is back to what makes it good.

A bold daylight murder has been committed and so it's up to Chloe and Lucifer to get to the bottom of things.  The murder weapon just happens to belong to the angel of the death. Oh Oh.  At any rate, Lucifer drags Amenadiel and Maze to the site of Uriel's grave only to find the angel's body still in the grave but the knife missing.  The blade tends to turn everyday grievances into capitol offenses to the person who possess the blade.

Even as Lucifer is tracking down the celestial weapon he's also back to work with Linda. Lucifer chats with her about the meaning of Chloe making him a sandwich in the previous episode but Linda's too distracted to offer much advise. The good doctor is amazed that Lucifer is indeed the devil and gets torture Hitler for an eternity.  I gotta admit in her place, I'd want to know what he chose to do with him as well.

hell everyday hitler maid little nicky

I know I'm not the only who thought about this so just hush.

The chase for the blade reveals some interesting things about the characters.  Lucifer is absolutely adamant that the blade be found because of what it is capable of doing.  This comes as a surprise to Charlotte, who is responsible for the blade reaching humanity in the first place.  It seems that after teaching herself law in a weekend and her husband some new sex moves, Charlotte also drew a map to Uriel's grave and gave it to several of her clients.  Charlotte thought that if her husband found out that a celestial weapon was in the hands of humans that he would communicate with her.  Charlotte claims that what she really wants is to grieve with God.  I would like to believe her but I said weeks ago, there's something not right about Charlotte.  Lucifer demands his mother's help with tracking down the weapon because while she may see humans as disposable, he clearly does not.  Charlotte notes how much his little vacation on earth has changed him.

Salem, Season 3, Episode 1: After the Fall

So last season loads of people seemed to die – far too many for it to actually stick without a reboot. So now the question is, who has woo-woo saved?

We also open with insects and filth and yuckiness just to remind us how terrible everything is.

First let’s catch up with Sebastian and the witches who have decided absolutely everything is awesome. Young John the Baby Devil is now in charge and makes it clear to all these witches that he is their new dictator and will murder everyone who doesn’t bow and scrape before him

Let us call this a final death knell to the original awesome concept Salem had. The idea that we had all of these extremely oppressed, helpless and suffering women who turned to magic and evil because they had literally no other choice, it was their only chance for power, for freedom and even for survival. The only chance to escape their suffering.

And now? They’re being as brutalised and more by their god than they ever were by being oppressed in Salem. Oh and the power of the witches briefly was held by Countess Marburg, a woman with so much wealth and class privilege it seemed even the misogynists of Salem were willing to kneel to her. And now it rests in the hands of Baby Devil (a very rich, white boy) and Sebastian (a very rich straight white man). We’ve not just abandoned this theme but we’ve jumped up and down on it and then ground it into the dirt to ensure it can never live again.

Sebastian isn’t happy though because Mary is dead and he’s super sad about this and drinking her blood doesn’t make up for that (of course they’re drinking her blood because why not, it’s Salem)? He’s also keeping Marbug’s body in her coffin and not helping resurrect her – so I do hope Lucy Lawless will be back at some point. Because Lucy Lawless.

Tituba is another person who is still alive – but blinded by the birds last season tearing out her eyes. Speaking of eaten eyes, last season Tituba chowed down on the seer Petrus’s eyes (because this is Salem and we have more people eating disgusting things than the average I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here series) which means now, blind, she’s inherited that seery power. Using that seer power she can see that the world is officially fucked. Apparently summoning and releasing the devil is a Bad Thing and everything is now going to shit and absolutely no-one signed up for this.

More, the only way they can stop this is with Mary Sibley. Unfortunately, Mary was killed last season and we’ve already seen John bury her. Luckily magic means death can only be a brief issue. Though it’s apparently super unadvisable to bring back the dead, probably less so than letting the Devil end the world.

Lucifer Season Two, Episode Six: Monster

Image result for lucifer

Monster marks the halfway point of the second season of Lucifer. This season has all been about Lucifer's family situation.  Some of it has been funny, like Charlotte learning how to deal with the human family she has been saddled with and some sad, like Amenadiel losing his powers.  It's been an interesting dynamic to see explored so far, particularly because at least to some degree it shifts the story line away from self involvement and the damned weekly murder.

As typical of Lucifer, Monster begins with the case of the week.  A zombie wedding is taking place in a cemetery.  The groom is shot in the arm and then the bride is murdered by a snipers bullet.  As the case progresses, a man running a food truck is similarly killed. We learn that the husband of a woman who died with lung disease is killing the spouses of those he deems responsible for his wife's death. Dan of all people feels momentarily sorry for the man when he thinks about how he would feel if Chloe died. Lucifer offers himself as a target for the sniper but the sniper shoots around Lucifer, not wanting to kill an innocent person.  This offends Lucifer, who doesn't at all feel innocent after the death of Uriel.  As it turns out, the man chose to kill innocent people because he wanted to be punished, firm in the belief that his long absences from home meant that his wife's condition went undiagnosed for far too long.

Lucifer is in personal drama because he killed Uriel and for the first time in his long existence he feels guilty.  Lucifer's job since his fall has been to punish the evil doer when they die and now, there's no one to punish him.  This of course lines up neatly with the case of the week. Being the devil, he's absolutely certain that he deserves to be punished and simply cannot let go of the pain he is feeling.  His path to seeking justice is to act out, forcing Chloe to lay down the law time and time again.  Chloe is stern with Lucifer but she can also see that he is clearly hurting and asks him repeatedly to open up and share what is going on but Lucifer is dismissive. Finally, Chloe talks Lucifer into seeing Linda.

Lucifer begins to talk about Uriel and Linda listens patiently for a bit before the frustration overwhelms her. Though Lucifer has been upfront with everyone that he is the biblical devil, no one of course believes him.  All of the time during his counselling, Linda believed that Lucifer was talking in metaphors and structured her counselling around this.  This week, Linda believes that Lucifer will never progress if he doesn't stop the metaphors and get real with her. She demands that he be honest and despite an initial hesitation, Lucifer complies.  For the first time, Lucifer reveals his real face and this leaves Linda speechless and unable to respond.  Lucifer simply stands and leaves the room as Linda stares off into space.  It looks like Linda might need her own counselling after this.

While Chloe is trying to reign in Lucifer and solve the case, she also deals with growing pains sharing an apartment with Maze. The first sign that the two of them living together might not be such a good idea is when she discovers Trixie on Maze's sex swing which she installed in the living room of all places.  Chloe makes it clear that in order to continue to live there, Maze is going to have to start considering that they share a space with a child.  Maze of course doesn't take well to this news.

Lucifer, Season Two, Episode Five: Weaponizer

Last week's episode ended with Chloe getting into a car accident.  This is significant because Lucifer made a deal with God to save her life in exchange for taking his mother back to hell.  As we know, Lucifer didn't follow through on his end of the bargain.  It turns out that Chloe's accident wasn't an accident after all and was in fact orchestrated by Uriel.  That's right, there's a new angel in town to join Lucifer's dysfunctional family on earth. Even better, the role is played by Michael Imperioli.

Like all episodes, Weaponizer does have a crime which needs to be solved but this time, instead of the crime being used to highlight some existential problem Lucifer is dealing with, this week's crime seems to exist to show that Lucifer and Dan share a common love of action flicks of all things.  Their shared love causes them to repeat lines from the movies, high five each other and have a dudebro bond moment.  Perhaps this will make detective douche more palatable to Lucifer as the series continues.

What's interesting about Weaponizer is not the crime drama but the peril that Chloe is in and how Lucifer deals with it. When Uriel arrives, Lucifer isn't immediately concerned because he has a secret weapon in his back pocket - his older brother Amenadiel. Unfortunately, Amenadiel isn't quite himself and has lost his powers, a secret he has kept from Lucifer.  Maze however thinks that the solution is simple and suggests that Lucifer simply take mommy dearest back to hell and fulfill his end of the deal. Lucifer however is insistent that he is fulfilling the agreement because he is punishing his mother on earth.  Amenadiel tries to suggest that Lucifer should simply hide Chloe and their mother until Uriel gives up and returns home.  This is enough for Lucifer to suggest that maybe the problem is that Amenadiel has been on earth too long and forgotten the power that he is. Lucifer points out that Uriel is the younger brother and that as the eldest, they were all in a awe of him.  Amenadiel gets the idea that all Uriel needs to see is him in his full glory.

Amenadiel meets with Uriel on a rooftop wearing his angel outfit and looking fine as hell.

Amenadiel assures Uriel that he has everything under control but Uriel points out that not only is Lucifer living on earth but their mother is now.  Uriel claims that he only wants to help.  Amenadiel goes all bad ass and points out that he is Amenadiel and is the one who delivers the wrath of God not, Uriel the diminutive little brother.  This is enough for Uriel to cower a bit in fear and agree to go home.  Amenadiel believes his business is done and starts to leave but is stopped by Uriel, who punches him in the face. It seems that Uriel figured out right away that something was wrong with Amenadiel by the fact that Amenadiel spent so much time talking instead of kicking his ass.  Uriel releases his wings and proceeds to give Amenadiel the beat down he's been dying to issue since the dawn of the universe.

Lucifer, Season One, Episode Twelve: #TeamLucifer

Having determined that being around Chloe makes him vulnerable, Lucifer is determined to find out what his other weaknesses are. In this penultimate episode of season one, Lucifer is grappling with his fear of betrayal and his role in human life. Since discovering that being around Chloe makes him vulnerable to physical harm,  Lucifer has been avoiding her and spending time having Mazikeen throw things at him to test his vulnerability.

The testing is called to halt when Chloe arrives requesting Lucifer's help with a case.  At the crime scene, he is greeted by Malcolm, who is overly familiar with him.  Lucifer is not pleased to see Malcolm, particularly because of how jocular Malcolm is.  It seems that now that he has his coin, Malcolm is certain that things are fine. When Lucifer sees the body of the victim, he is not pleased to see that "hail Lucifer" as been carved into the victim's back having not been one to want human sycophants.

It's time to visit the victim's home and still keeping his distance, Lucifer decides to drive himself. He explains his decision by claiming that Chloe is a bad driver.  Chloe and Lucifer learn that the victim was raised by her father and that they weren't close once she became older.  Lucifer naturally identifies with the victim, claiming that they both had absentee parents. Inside the house, they find a hidden stairwell which leads to room of Satanist memorabilia.

While Chloe and Lucifer were at the home of the victim, Dan tracked down the person who created the victim's implants. Back at the station, Chloe tries to make a word from the letters which were implanted in the victim but cannot come up with a word she recognizes.  A frustrated Lucifer walks, over and rearranges the letters into a Latin phrase which translates to "Children of the Goat." As we know, Amenadiel was the one who started the myth about Lucifer and goats.  After a quick internet search, they find a group associated with the "Children of the Goat" and decide to check it out. Once again, Lucifer decides to take his own car.

Amenadiel, confronts Malcolm in the parking garage.  Amenadiel demands to know why Lucifer is not dead.  This time, Malcolm does not display the customary fear and in fact, is once again jovial. Malcolm lets slip that he knows Amenadiel is an angel and cannot hurt him.  Malcolm then shows Amenadiel the coin he got from Lucifer, saying that he isn't going to hell and then pronounces that he is officially #teamlucifer.

When Chloe and Lucifer arrive at the Satanist clubhouse, they are told that a secret meeting his happening today and are asked for I.D. Lucifer claims that his is in his car and he sends Chloe to retrieve it.  With Chloe headed towards the car, Lucifer displays his demon eyes which is enough for the Satanist at the doorway to take off running.  With the way clear, Lucifer and Chloe enter the Satanist clubhouse were they discover a memorial service being held for the victim.  When someone wearing a goats head mask enters the meeting, it all becomes to much for Lucifer, and he steps forward in a rage.  Lucifer has never wanted sycophants and questions why the group isn't more concerned with free will and rebellion.  In response, the group cheers which is exactly what Lucifer doesn't want. The leader leaves the room in disgust and is quickly followed by Lucifer and Chloe. They immediately suspect the leader but after Lucifer uses his power, they learn that the leader wants out and actually suspects the victim's boyfriend of being the guilty party.

Back at Chloe's place, Chloe excuses herself to have a shower and warns Lucifer not to wake her daughter. The minute Chloe is upstairs, Lucifer tosses a stuffed animal at Trixie. Lucifer gets right down to business and starts asking Trixie if she is adopted and if Chloe has any scars.  When Trixie is not immediately forthcoming, Lucifer suggests that there's chocolate cake in it for her but Trixie wants money this time.  Lucifer is suitably impressed and hands over money.  Trixie talks about a scar on Chloe's butt before he can get more details, Chloe returns downstairs. Chloe explains that the scar is from being bitten by her mother's dog and sends Trixie back to bed.

Chloe is determined to get to the bottom of why Lucifer is so freaked out by her recently explaining that she trusts him implicitly. Lucifer asks Chloe to see her back and she turns and lifts her shirt. Lucifer confirms that that there are no scars or wings on Chloe's back. Chloe tells Lucifer that not everyone is out to get him.

Chloe gets a call that the suspects car has been discovered, so she and Lucifer head out.  At the scene, they find the suspect dead and hanging in a crucifixion type pose.  They also find the word Morningstar printed in red paint.  Chloe and Dan decide that it is a conflict of interest and tell Lucifer that he has to leave. This incenses Lucifer and he explains that he himself is not evil and that he only punishes evil.  After Lucifer leaves, Chloe and Dan find a cuff link with the letter M on it. What they don't realise is that an M can also be a W.

Mazikeen shows up with some takeout and questions why Amenadiel stood her up. Amenadiel is upset about what he sees as his failure to send Lucifer back to hell and the fact that he is also sleeping with a demon.  Mazikeen tells him that he is the best sex she has ever had and that means something because she has had a lot of male and female partners.  Mazikeen then suggests that if Amenadiel is not happy that he should just return to heaven but Amenadiel responds that he cannot go back and face God as a failure. It's clear that these two have grown very close.  Mazikeen grabs her knife to kill Amenadiel as ordered by Lucifer but her feelings cause her to move slowly, allowing Amenadiel to catch her in the act.  Amenadiel quickly leaves, obviously hurt by the betrayal, even as Mazikeen calls out to him.

On his way back to Lux, Lucifer runs into the street preacher that he revealed his identity to several episodes ago.  The preacher is determined to send Lucifer back to a lake of burning fire.  Lucifer loses his temper and grabs the preacher by the neck, holding him up against a pole.  Malcolm intervenes and stops Lucifer from killing the preacher.  Inside Lux, Malcolm reveals that he is solidly #teamlucifer, while acting like a ridiculous fanboy.  Lucifer notices that Malcolm had red paint on his hands and accuses him of murdering the suspect. Malcolm tries to claim that he got it from the crime scene.  When Lucifer responds that he would have been wearing gloves, Malcolm finally cops to the murder and reveals that he set the street preacher up to take the blame. Malcolm is confidant that because of his coin, he cannot be sent to hell but Lucifer decides that rather than sending Malcolm to hell, he will bring hell to Malcolm.

Lucifer, Season One Episode Ten: Pops

This week begins at the murder scene of a famous chef.  Lucifer is all broken up but not because he feels for the man's family or that he was even too young to die but because with the death of Javier, this means that Lucifer will never have a chance to eat the man's tamales again.  He always seems to find a way to make it all about him but I suppose given who Lucifer is, that shouldn't really be a surprise.

Chloe and Lucifer head to the restaurant to question Javier's employees and learn that they all called him Pop's because he was like a father figure for them. Lucifer immediately thinks that one of he workers must have killed him because no one can really get along with their parental figure can they? Chloe tries to dissuade him that this is not the case but then her mother arrives on the scene.  Lucifer is very happy to meet Penelope but it's clear that Chloe is less than pleased to see her mother. Lucifer is his flirtatious self ,earning himself an invite to family dinner.

As Lucifer and Chloe begin interviewing the staff, they are told repeatedly how hard Pop's was on them. Each staff member has a horror story to tell but always finishes with how much they loved and respected Pops. Even Junior, Javier's son, who clearly had a series of complaints reveals when questioned by Lucifer, that all he wanted to do was have a meal with his father again. Lucifer is clearly not buying it. They head to see the sous chef, Anne, who just happened to make Pop's last meal and is set to inherit the restaurant. Anne is adamant that she would never hurt Javier. The interview is cut short when Anne ends up vomiting blood on Lucifer, having clearly been poisoned as well.

Mazikeen goes to see Linda and to call it awkward would be an understatement. Linda rightfully is worried about a conflict of interest which would happen if she treated both Mazikeen and Lucifer. Mazikeen however sees Linda's reluctance as a sign that she needs to offer up sex in the same fashion that Lucifer did.  Linda is quick to reject the offer. Mazikeen it seems really wants to fit in since it seems that she is stuck there for awhile.  Sensibly, Linda suggests that Mazikeen embrace her surroundings and make friends but this does not make the temperamental Mazikeen happy and she storms out.

Dan and Malcolm are out on patrol together and clearly there's still a lot of tension between the two men.  Dan demands to know what Malcolm is going to do with the gun he had him procure and Malcolm reveals that his plan is to kill Lucifer. Malcolm suggests that since Lucifer is busy making the moves on Chloe, that this shouldn't upset Dan too much.

Dan joins Chloe and Lucifer at the crime scene.  Chloe now believes that since Ann was also poisoned that she is not a suspect.  Dan suggests that they check out an employee who was fired. Chloe asks Dan to come to the family dinner to act as a buffer between her and her mother.  Chloe and Lucifer head to the suspects house where Lucifer immediately breaks in and starts searching despite Chloe pointing out that they don't have a warrant. The suspect comes home and during questioning reveals that all she wanted to do was make peace with Javier.

Chloe and Lucifer's interview is cut short when Chloe gets a call from her babysitter. When Chloe arrives home, Trixie is all dressed up to accompany Penelope on an audition and this sets off an argument between Chloe and Penelope.  Chloe feels that Penelope is using Trixie much the same as she was used when she was a child.  The two women are so intently focused on each other, they don't even notice that Trixie has slipped away.

Lucifer still certain that Junior is responsible for Javier's murder lies in wait for him. Junior and Lucifer talk for a bit and Junior manages to convince Lucifer that he is innocent.

Upset that her grandmother and mother are fighting over her, Trixie takes an Uber to Lux where she finds Mazikeen.  Trixie explains that she wants to see Lucifer because Lucifer is her friend.  Mazikeen is still frosty but she actually pores the child a drink and they talk about the issue.  Having figured out where Trixie went, Chloe shows up.  When Trixie calls Mazikeen her friend, Mazikeen tells her to call her Maze but makes certain that Chloe knows not to call her by that name.
